In a study published December 6, 2007 in the New England Journal of Medicine, being overweight as a child significantly increases the risk for heart disease in adulthood as early as age 15.

This new study provides the most powerful evidence yet that the obesity epidemic is spawning a generation prone to serious health problems later in life. The study of more thatn 276,000 Danish children found those who were overweight when they were 7-13 years old were much more likely to develop heart disease between the ages of 25 and 71-even those who were just a little chubby as kids and possibly regardless of whether they lost the weight when they grew up.

"This is incredibly important", said Jennifer Baker of the Institute of Preventive Medicine in Copenhagen, who led the research. "This is the first study to convincingly show that excess childhood weight is associated with heart disease in adulthood, or with any significant health problem in adulthood."

The 2007 Project Healthy Kids Camp was held at Basketball Town on August 13 & 14. The primary goal of the camp was to teach kids and their parents about the importance of exercise, healthy eating, and living a healthy lifestyle. More than 50 kids and their parents attended the two day camp and participated in stretching exercises, basketball activities, gymnastics, rock climbing, and rope jumping. They were taught how to make a healthy lunch, were treated to healthy snacks, and participated in a Farmer's Market thanks to Save Mart Super Stores. Parents also received valuable information about nutrition from Healthnet, a major sponsor and the importance of physical activity for their children.

At the end of the two day camp kids received a Project Healthy Kids Graduation Certificate along with a T-Shirt. They left with a new understanding of what it takes and what they must do in order to lead a positive, healthy lifestyle. Other major sponsors were MY58 TV, Cardte Hicks and The Legends, kids first, and Tom Askins and There Are No Limits.

2006 Presented 4 paid seminars on strengthening self-esteem to adults in Fair Oaks and Woodland. Presented a 3 week trial program with specific freshman students at Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks, CA and were recommended for future programs.

We look forward to adding more programs and sponsorships.

There Are No Limits According to the Surgeon General's Conference on Children's Mental Health, many children and adolescents suffer from low self-esteem, feelings of loneliness, reduced school and work productivity, and increased drug and alcohol use. It is predicted that these anxiety disorders will rise by 50% by the year 2020

There Are No Limits The good news is that it has also been shown that children with higher self-esteem are more likely to avoid uncontrolled anger, violence, obesity, alcohol or drug abuse.

There Are No Limits Self-esteem is the degree to which a person likes and accepts him/herself, in spite of mistakes, frailties, setbacks, or shortcomings. Self-esteem determines how capable a person feels to tackle obstacles.

There Are No Limits Although educational resources are stretched thin today, the need to develop children's natural assets remains essential to prepare them for a meaningful, productive, and fulfilling life. There Are No Limits can do that.
